Terms of Use
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Before you start
These terms apply when you use the Ave iOS app and the website tryave.app (together, “Ave”). By creating an account or using Ave, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.
Ave is operated by Gianin Siegrist, a sole proprietorship based at Feldeggweg 10, 8810 Horgen, Switzerland (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@tryave.app.
1. Ave is not therapy
Ave is a self-improvement tool. It is not therapy, medical care or a crisis service, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. Nothing in Ave replaces advice from a doctor, psychologist or other qualified professional. If you have concerns about your mental or physical health, please talk to one.
Ave is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, contact emergency services right away. In Switzerland: 144 (ambulance), 143 (Die Dargebotene Hand, 24/7 support), 147 (Pro Juventute, for young people). Elsewhere, call your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country.
The visualizations are done with your eyes closed. Only use them when you’re somewhere safe, never while driving or doing anything that needs your attention.
2. What Ave offers
Ave helps you work on how you see yourself, through:
- a daily, eyes-closed audio visualization
- an evening journal
- conversations with Ave, an AI persona
- Mental Frameworks: personal if-then plans you create
We keep developing Ave, so features may change, be added or be removed over time. If we remove something central to your subscription, we’ll let you know in advance.
3. Who can use Ave
You must be at least [CONFIRM AGE: 16] years old to use Ave. By using it, you confirm that you are. You’re responsible for keeping access to your account and device secure, and for the accuracy of the information you give us.
4. Subscription and free trial
Some features of Ave require a paid subscription, purchased through Apple’s In-App Purchase.
- Price. The subscription currently costs $59.99 per year, or the equivalent in your local currency. We may offer different prices or offers to different users, for example in tests or promotions. The price and period shown on the purchase screen before you confirm are what you pay.
- Free trial. Where offered, a free trial (currently 7 days) lets you try Ave before paying. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts into a paid subscription and your Apple ID is charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your Ave account does not cancel your subscription.
- Refunds. Apple handles all payments, so refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, under Apple’s refund policy. We can’t issue refunds ourselves.
- Price changes. If the price of your subscription changes, Apple will notify you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before charging the new price.
5. Using Ave respectfully
Please don’t:
- use Ave for anything illegal, or to harm, harass or threaten anyone
- try to make Ave produce harmful content, or get around its safety measures
- copy, reverse-engineer, scrape or resell Ave or its content, or use it to build a competing product
- interfere with Ave’s systems or other people’s use of them
- share your account or impersonate someone else
If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account (see section 10).
6. About AI-generated content
Ave’s chat replies and some other content are generated by artificial intelligence. Ave is an AI, not a person. AI can be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate, and it doesn’t know you the way a person close to you does.
- Treat Ave’s responses as prompts for reflection, not as facts or advice.
- Don’t rely on them for medical, psychological, legal, financial or other important decisions.
- Use your own judgment, and talk to a professional when it matters.
To generate responses, your journal and chat text is processed by our AI provider, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Your content
What you write in Ave (journal entries, chat messages, Mental Frameworks) stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to store, process and display it to provide Ave to you, including sending it to our AI provider to generate responses. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law or that are still in backups for a limited time.
8. Our content
Ave itself (the app, website, visualizations, audio, texts, design, the name Ave and its logo) belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. While you use Ave in line with these terms, you get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use it for your own non-commercial purposes. Nothing else is transferred to you.
9. Liability
We work hard to make Ave helpful and reliable, but we provide it “as is”. We can’t promise that it will always be available or free of errors, or that it will lead to any particular result for you.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for slight negligence, or for indirect or consequential damage such as lost profits or lost data. We remain fully liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law doesn’t allow liability to be limited. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country.
10. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Ave and delete your account at any time in the app under [PATH, e.g. Settings → Account → Delete account]. Remember to cancel your subscription separately in your Apple ID settings.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it. Where reasonable, we’ll warn you first. We may also discontinue Ave altogether. If we do, we’ll give you reasonable notice.
11. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Ave or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If Ave fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app, if any. To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding Ave. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to Ave, including product liability claims, claims that Ave fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, or claims that Ave infringes someone’s intellectual property. We are responsible for those. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Ave or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Ave after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Ave and cancel your subscription.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts at Horgen, Canton of Zurich, have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may also bring a claim in the courts there.
If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
